What a Lens Consultation Covers
We look at how you use your eyes through the day: screen distances and hours, driving, reading, close work, sport and hobbies. We review your prescription and your current glasses, and recommend lens designs, materials and coatings that solve the problems you came in with. Common solutions include:
- Office and screen lenses such as Hoya WorkStyle, designed for the near and intermediate distances of desk work
- Driving lenses such as Zeiss DriveSafe and Hoya EnRoute, which reduce glare from headlights and sharpen vision in low light
- Individually calculated varifocals that take your frame and fitting into account, for wider fields of clear vision
- Thin, light high-index lenses for stronger prescriptions
- Coatings for anti-reflection, blue light, scratch resistance and easy cleaning, and photochromic or polarised options for outdoors
Hoya: Freeform Precision
Hoya's lenses are produced with freeform surfacing. This treats the lens surface as a series of individual points, which Hoya engineers cut at pixel level along multiple axes. Such precision means that each lens can be optimised for every prescription. Hoya can even incorporate frame, fitting and wearing parameters into the lens calculation, resulting in a highly personalised lens, every time.
Hoya Single Vision Lenses
The secret ingredient of many of Hoya's single vision lenses is TrueForm Technology. With TrueForm each prescription is individually calculated and produced, improving optical acuity and performance. In addition, patented binocular evaluation models pinpoint and minimise distortion, providing clear peripheral vision and greater wearer comfort.
Zeiss: Optics for Demanding Situations
Zeiss has made precision optics since 1846, and its spectacle lenses bring the same engineering to everyday wear. Zeiss DriveSafe lenses are optimised for the changing pupil size and low light of driving, with a coating that cuts the dazzle of oncoming headlights. Zeiss progressive and office designs are individually calculated to your frame and fitting. We have a Zeiss 3D DriveSafe simulator in practice, so you can see the difference before you order.
